I write children's poetry. Well, actually, I write novels, and song lyrics, and short stories, slam poetry, and whatever moves me. I never stop writing. It's been a fascinating journey to become an independent children's author.
My works are
unapologetically observational, analytical,
lyrical, and optimistic.
I'm so happy to create the kind of books I loved reading as a child.
My mission is to nurture a love of nature and language in little ones with big imaginations.
Writing for children with respect. I work hard to earn it back. You can't fool a kid! They inherently know what's true and without agenda. That's why they love poetry.

Carla Maskall and I met in middle-school. She was always into art and I was always into literature. We stayed in touch over the years, but it wasn't until the dark months of COVID that we started to create together.
From story-boarding, to book-signings and Farmer's Markets, to late night phone calls, and long heart-to-heart planning sessions, we love working together. We are truly partners in this journey and I think it shows in our books. I am so grateful to have Carla as my Illustrator, but I am even more grateful to have her as my Friend (in title case, of course).

In case you were worried, please know that no AI was used (or ever will be used) in the creation of the text, illustrations, or supporting materials for my books.
For the record, I believe that AI can be a wonderful tool. I love the advancements in science and technology that the responsible use of AI can bring. But I believe that AI has no place in the literary arts.
Humans need art created by humans that reflects the human experience.
I would, however, love for AI to take care of the dishes and meal planning and the like so that I can have more time to create art. Could someone please work on that for me? I'm a little busy over here working on my next books.
